What To Do If You Think You'Ve Come Into Contact With The Coronavirus

The coronavirus is currently taking the world by storm and is a serious infectious disease that should be avoided at all costs. Unfortunately, as it's currently in a very contagious stage, it's relatively easy to come across someone who has it. If you think you've come into contact with someone who has the coronavirus, you should take steps immediately to protect yourself and others. Here's what you should do.

Self-Isolation

The first step is to isolate yourself as much as possible from other people, including anyone who happens to live in your house. The coronavirus is extremely contagious, and you don't want to give it to anyone else. It's possible to infect others even before symptoms arise, so keep your distance for everyone's safety until it's confirmed that you're healthy.

Symptoms

The coronavirus has a set of very clear-cut symptoms in most people. The first symptom that's the most noticeable is a fever. So if you develop a fever, make especially sure to stay away from your housemates and to stay inside as much as possible. If you need help or assistance, ask your family or friends to bring things to your home, but don't come into contact with them. Ask them to leave it at the door and only go to pick them up once they've left, for their safety.

Other symptoms of the coronavirus include respiratory difficulty (trouble breathing), exhaustion, weakness, and coughing. If you develop any of these symptoms in addition to a fever, it's a likely sign that you've got the illness.

However, with that being said, some people are carriers of coronavirus with no symptoms. As a result, even if you don't feel anything after being exposed to someone who might have had it, you should remain in self-isolation until you complete the next step.

Get Tested

The last step is to visit a doctor to be tested to determine if you have the coronavirus. If you have one, wear a mask before leaving the house to avoid exposing others to it as much as possible.

Your doctor will be able to test you by taking a blood sample. If it turns out that you have the coronavirus, they will give you directions on what to do next; it may include hospitalization depending upon your symptoms.

The coronavirus is a very scary illness to be facing, but it can be beaten if you follow these steps and know what to do.
